This photograph gives me goose bumps. I love how it looks like flames raising to the sky when we really see the edge of a salt lake. One of my favourite in my Ngala Wongga series.the book is getting prepared and the photo is part of it. It’s an aerial I stumbled across randomly in the Goldfields of WA and what a beauty! Colors in the area are unreal. Stay tuned for the book launch :) #goldfields #wa #westernaustralia #saltlake #outback #goldenoutback #kalgoorlie #aerial #aerialphoto #aerialphotography #art #artist #photography #limitededition @margaret_river_gallery

Mwamini has been a nurse for almost 20 years and decided to join the Ebola responders team a month ago when the virus spread to her community. In the village of Mataba, near Kalunguta, North Kivu DRC, the community had traditionally been opposed to the Ebola response. Meet Ruth from Butembo working at the Child Care Centre, near the Ebola Treatment Unit, North Kivu in DRC. The Child Care Center in Butembo cares for children whose parents are receiving treatment in an Ebola treatment centre. Ruth contracted Ebola in November 2018. Safe and Dignified burials. The Red Cross is now working with the World Health Organization and the ministry of health to help stop the spread of Ebola in DRC.
In eastern DRC, people touch their loved one’s bodies before burying them, which is part of their traditional burial practices. When a person has died of Ebola, this can spread the disease to their family and friends.
To tackle this problem, 800 Red Cross volunteers who live in the affected communities are helping their neighbours by sharing important information. This includes how burials need to be done differently when people die of Ebola and what to do if someone might be infected with it.
The Red Cross has also trained specialist burial teams in remote communities to safely bury people who have died of Ebola. #redcross #unitednations #un #africa #ebola #butembo #drc #rdc #congo #croixrouge #ebolavirus

Providing the opportunity for a safe yet dignified burial is an opportunity to respect cultures and provide comfort to those left behind. As part of the Ebola Emergency Response, the Red Cross is working with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry of Health of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) to help stop the spread of Ebola in DRC. Infection of the Ebola virus can occur from touching the bodies of those who have died from the Ebola virus disease (EVD). This practice is part of traditional burial rituals in eastern DRC, why the rituals need to be modified so that family members can say goodbye to their loved ones without becoming exposed to the virus. Red Cross has trained specialist burial teams in remote communities to safely bury people who have died of Ebola. They also make sure that people’s homes and medical equipment are disinfected.
